Charlotte, North Carolina has become one of the Southeast’s most exciting cities for automotive enthusiasts. From the sounds of horsepower echoing and vibrating through zMAX Dragway to the custom builds rolling through local Cars & Coffee events, the Carolinas have developed a car culture that deserves national attention. And this November, one of the Queen City’s biggest automotive traditions returns to Uptown Charlotte. The 2026 Charlotte Auto Show, taking place November 19–22 at the Charlotte Convention Center, is bringing together some of the biggest names in the automotive industry, incredible custom builds, luxury vehicles, and experiences that go far beyond simply looking at cars.

We’ve spent years traveling throughout the country meeting builders, racers, collectors, photographers, and everyday enthusiasts who share one thing in common: a genuine passion for automobiles. We’ve learned that car culture isn’t defined by what you drive or how much money you’ve invested into your build. It’s about the people, the stories, and the connections that bring us together. That’s exactly why we believe the Charlotte Auto Show deserves a spot on your calendar.

SOMETHING FOR EVERY TYPE OF CAR ENTHUSIAST

One thing we’ve always appreciated about the automotive community is its diversity. Some enthusiasts live for American muscle, others prefer European luxury, Japanese performance, lifted trucks, classics, or the latest electric technology. The Charlotte Auto Show brings many of these interests together under one roof. Imagine walking through the Charlotte Convention Center and seeing the latest Chevrolet and Ford models, exploring vehicles from Toyota and Honda, and then getting an up-close look at luxury and exotic brands such as Ferrari, Aston Martin, Mercedes-Benz, and Porsche.

For someone considering their next vehicle purchase, this is an excellent opportunity to compare different manufacturers without having to travel from dealership to dealership. But for true automotive enthusiasts, there’s another reason to attend. You get to experience how the automotive industry is evolving. New technology, innovative designs, performance improvements, and the growing competition between gasoline, hybrid, and electric vehicles are changing what we drive and how we drive it. Whether you’re excited about those changes or prefer the rumble of a traditional V8, there’s something worth seeing.

BUILT DIFFERENT BLVD: WHERE CAR CULTURE TAKES CENTER STAGE

Charlotte Auto Show: Showcase your custom build at Built Different Blvd.

Now, this is where things get particularly interesting for us at Street Cars 101 Magazine. While new vehicles are a major attraction, Built Different Blvd brings something special to the event: the creativity and individuality of the custom automotive community. Anyone can admire a brand-new vehicle sitting on a showroom floor. But there’s something different about seeing a vehicle that someone has spent countless hours modifying, perfecting, and turning into a reflection of their personality. That’s the side of automotive culture we’ve built our magazine around.

From custom wheels and performance modifications to unique styling and craftsmanship, builds like these remind us why the aftermarket automotive industry continues to thrive. And for the builders throughout country especially the surrounding Carolinas, attractions like Built Different Blvd demonstrate that the custom-car scene belongs alongside the major manufacturers. We would love to see even more local builders, automotive businesses, and talented creators represented at events of this magnitude in the future. After all, the Carolinas aren’t lacking automotive talent. We have plenty of it.

DON’T JUST LOOK AT THE CARS. EXPERIENCE THEM.

One of the biggest differences between a traditional car show and the Charlotte Auto Show is the opportunity to experience vehicles beyond their appearance. The event features an indoor test track showcasing gasoline, hybrid, and electric vehicles, along with select outdoor Ride & Drive experiences. For anyone who has been curious about electric vehicles or wants to understand how the latest automotive technology feels on the road, these experiences provide an opportunity to learn firsthand.

And let’s face it, reading about a vehicle and actually experiencing one are two completely different things. Beyond the vehicles themselves, attractions such as Hops & Horsepower, the Rev & Roll charity concert, and family-friendly activities help create an atmosphere where visitors can spend more than just an hour walking through displays. It’s an automotive experience that can be enjoyed with friends, family, and fellow enthusiasts.

WHY CHARLOTTE AND THE CAROLINAS NEED EVENTS LIKE THIS

Here’s something we strongly believe at Street Cars 101 Magazine. Charlotte has the potential to become an even bigger destination for automotive culture. Think about what we already have in our backyard. Charlotte Motor Speedway, zMAX Dragway, NASCAR’s deep roots in the region, automotive museums, racing teams, performance shops, custom builders, and a community of enthusiasts who support events nearly every weekend. We’ve covered events throughout the Carolinas and witnessed firsthand how passionate this community really is.

But major automotive events don’t grow simply because they’re held in a large convention center. They grow when the community shows up, participates, shares the experience, and gives organizers a reason to continue investing in the region. That’s why we encourage local car clubs, automotive photographers, content creators, builders, business owners, and everyday enthusiasts to attend.

Bring your friends, bring your family, and connect with people you haven’t seen in a while. Introduce someone younger to the automotive world because you never know what a simple conversation at an event like this could lead to, I mean it’s how we got started in this industry. Maybe it’s a future collaboration, a new business relationship, inspiration for your next build, or a young enthusiast discovering their passion for cars for the very first time. These are the moments that matter just as much as the vehicles themselves.

OUR MESSAGE TO THE CAROLINAS CAR COMMUNITY

Our mission has always been bigger than simply publishing photographs of beautiful cars and showcasing car models. We want to help grow the automotive culture throughout North and South Carolina, give recognition to the people who make it special, and encourage our community to support the events happening right here at home. We often hear enthusiasts talk about the incredible automotive events taking place in Las Vegas, Detroit, Florida, and other major markets.

But if we want Charlotte to continue attracting bigger manufacturers, more custom builds, additional automotive experiences, and national attention. Supporting the events we already have is an important part of making that happen. The Charlotte Auto Show may not be a drag racing event or your typical outdoor car meet, and that’s perfectly fine. It’s an opportunity to experience another side of the automotive industry while connecting with the culture we all enjoy. So schedule for some time off work, purchase your tickets, and come out to The Charlotte Auto Show this year.

You don’t have to be shopping for a new vehicle to appreciate this event. You just have to love cars.

So whether you’re coming from Charlotte, Concord, China Grove, Monroe (hometown), Salisbury, Greensboro, Hickory, Rock Hill, Columbia, or anywhere else throughout the Carolinas, consider making the trip to Uptown Charlotte this November. Let’s continue showing the automotive industry what the Carolina car community has to offer. Because when the car community supports its own backyard, everybody benefits.

We’ll see you at the Charlotte Auto Show!
