For some days, we have been waiting to write this article. We honestly wanted other media outlets to get out there articles and highlights so we could pinpoint the most important thing about HPX. Which is why more locals should be attending this event as a whole, what makes this THE event from everything that goes on in the Carolinas which is a lot of events weekly, and how to actually enjoy a trade show like HPX for new comers/ what to expect. Since the conclusion of the 2026 High Performance Expo (HPX) at the Charlotte Convention Center, one question has continued to come up more than we can count from enthusiasts, builders, racers, and business owners throughout the Carolinas: What exactly is HPX, and why should you attend?

What makes this article different from many of the recaps you’ll see from larger media outlets is simple. Street Cars 101 Magazine is deeply connected to the automotive community throughout the Carolinas. We know the racers, the builders, the shops, the content creators, and the companies that make this region one of the strongest automotive markets in the country. Because of that, we understand the impact HPX has on our community in a way that goes beyond simply walking a trade show floor. The easiest way to explain HPX is to compare it to events most enthusiasts already know. Everybody wants to attend SEMA. Everybody wants to experience PRI, both are not truly open to public slightly. Those events are some of the biggest and most respected automotive industry gatherings in the world. The reality, however, is that traveling across the country isn’t always possible. Flights are expensive, hotels add up quickly, and many people simply don’t have the time to dedicate an entire week to travel.

HPX gives enthusiasts and industry professionals throughout the Southeast an opportunity to experience many of those same benefits without leaving the Carolinas. Located in the heart of Uptown Charlotte, HPX brings together manufacturers, racing organizations, aftermarket companies, service providers, media outlets, and automotive professionals for three days of networking, education, and business development. This is what HPX is and this what you get access to when you attend. While HPX is not SEMA and it is not PRI, it has become something uniquely valuable. It is the Carolinas’ automotive industry expo. It is a place where regional companies stand alongside national brands and where enthusiasts can meet the people behind the products they use every day.

One of the biggest advantages of HPX is accessibility which is more important thanmost would ever consider. Most people only interact with companies through websites, customer service departments, or social media. At HPX, attendees have the opportunity to meet company owners, engineers, marketing directors, sales teams, social media managers, racers, builders, and industry personalities face-to-face. Those personal conversations often create opportunities that simply cannot happen through a phone call or email. Walking through the show floor in 2026 revealed just how diverse the automotive industry has become. Companies specializing in performance parts, engine development, suspension systems, racing technology, fabrication, logistics, software solutions, and motorsports services filled the convention center. Every booth represented an opportunity to learn something new, discover a new product, or establish a valuable business connection.

HPX also separates itself from many traditional automotive events through its educational opportunities. Throughout the event, attendees participated in seminars, panel discussions, technical sessions, and business-focused presentations covering topics ranging from performance engineering and motorsports technology to marketing, leadership, content creation, and business growth. Whether someone owned a race team, operated a performance shop, managed a brand, or simply wanted to learn more about the industry, there was valuable information available throughout the event. Another highlight of HPX 2026 was the Car Club Collective, which brought grassroots automotive culture directly onto the show floor. Custom imports, muscle cars, race cars, trucks, and unique builds helped remind attendees that enthusiasts remain the foundation of the entire automotive industry. While manufacturers and businesses play a critical role in moving the industry forward, the passion of car enthusiasts continues to drive innovation and growth.

For Street Cars 101 Magazine, HPX remains one of the most important events of the year. Every conversation has the potential to become a future article, podcast episode, television segment, partnership, or business opportunity. The event allows us to connect directly with industry leaders while discovering the stories and people who continue to shape the future of automotive culture throughout the Carolinas and beyond. Charlotte has long been known as one of America’s motorsports capitals, and HPX continues to strengthen that reputation. The event provides a platform for companies across the region to showcase their products, services, and innovations while giving enthusiasts a chance to see firsthand what is happening within the industry. It proves that major automotive events are no longer limited to Las Vegas or Indianapolis. The Carolinas now have an event that can proudly call its own.

As HPX continues to grow, its value becomes increasingly clear. It serves as a meeting place for racers, builders, manufacturers, media, students, entrepreneurs, and enthusiasts who share a common passion for automotive performance. More importantly, it creates real-world connections in an industry that is built on relationships. After three days of networking, learning, and exploring everything the event had to offer, one thing became obvious. HPX is no longer a new event trying to find its place. It has established itself as one of the most important automotive industry gatherings in the Southeast and a must-attend destination for anyone serious about cars, racing, performance, or the future of the automotive aftermarket. If you missed HPX 2026, start making plans now. Bring your business cards, bring your questions, and bring your passion.
