Frequently Asked Questions

How do I get high-quality photos to submit to our magazine or any magazine?

While we and other publications strongly advise working with professional photographers, there are situations when it may be beyond your ability to pay for it. Therefore, as we promote our magazine to our thousands of subscribers, we at Street Cars 101 Magazine welcome images from all sources, but we do have requirements to ensure the best quality is presented in our magazine, both print and digital. Only PNG, TIFF, and JPEG raw files will be accepted! This guarantees we’ll post the highest-quality images. Why not just use standard JPEGS, which is what most phones and cameras come with by default? Images in regular JPEGs lose quality. This deterioration is irreversible, cumulative, and permanent. Photos that appear blurry and amateurish may be the outcome. Image quality matters to a magazine, but file size is not essential.

How does being featured in this magazine help me with other magazines?

The thing about being featured in any magazine is learning how to submit the right content with the right high-quality images. Here at Street Cars 101 Magazine, we are a good magazine for individuals to learn the process. Not only do you get the opportunity to have an entire magazine dedicated to you and your vehicle, but becoming part of the published family gives you access to our friends in major magazines who are also part of the published family. Once you are submitted to our magazine, unlike others, we use you as a reference for being published in others. You will learn what types of photos are accepted, what type of information you need to submit, how to market your magazine feature at car shows and events, and how to market it on your social media platforms. We want you to accomplish your goals and enjoy the experience of what true media and magazine outlets are supposed to offer, not just write you a great article and call ourselves doing you a favor.

What is the fastest way to get featured in a weekly magazine?

-You can submit through our submission form for free. It is the same form used in every submission, except you join the long line of individuals waiting to be chosen.

-You can purchase one of our tiers that can push your submission to the top of our stacks of submission forms.

-Hire one of our affiliated photographers, who we trust and know will deliver the best submission that fits our criteria

We receive around 30–50 submissions per week and will only feature one per week, so submissions can pile up quickly!

How do you submit your vehicle to be featured in our magazine?

Being published in Street Cars 101 Magazine is easy and will get you the exposure you want to have for your vehicle. We are currently the only magazine that releases digital and print issues across many major retail stores online. Also, the only magazine that dedicates a whole issue to one person, club, group, or couple guarantees that you get the cover and the attention only. We will explain club, group, and couple submissions in another video. This is for vehicle submissions only.

How do you properly take pictures with your smartphone?

We do not recommend this way but we understand. Even though smartphones have advanced, it is still noticeably different from hiring a professional based on image quality when enlarged for print. Still we understand and we do not rule it out, but we are very picky. Tips to help you get the best results

Take RAW photos on other Android phones

If your Android phone doesn’t support RAW mode in the pre-installed camera app, you must use a third-party camera app to complete the job. The Google Play Store is packed with such camera apps. ProCam X is one such app to capture RAW images on any Android phone.

Download ProCam X using the link below. Open the app and give it the necessary permissions.

Tap the More icon at the top and change the image format to RAW.

When you capture a photo, the app saves the images in JPEG and RAW formats.

How to take RAW photos on iPhone

1. Open Settings, then scroll down and select Camera.

2. Tap Formats.

3. Under Photo Capture, tap the Apple ProRAW switch to toggle it on.

4. Open the Camera app and tap the RAW icon, top right. When you first open the camera the icon will feature a strikethrough. When tapped the strikethrough will disappear, signifying that you are taking photos in RAW mode.

You’re now taking photos in ProRAW. If storage space is a concern on your device, bear in mind that each RAW photo will take up around 25MB of space, compared to the 1MB that HEIC files use. You may need to upgrade your iCloud storage if you plan on taking lots of photos in RAW.
