Building Ghoul Bee: From Vision to SEMA Reality

Building Ghoul Bee: From Vision to SEMA Reality

Some SEMA builds are about bragging rights. Others are about trophies. Dwan Harris’s 2023 Dodge Charger Widebody Scat Pack known as “Ghoul Bee” is about something deeper: keeping a promise to a father who never got to see it finished.

The Dream That Started at Eight

Dwan’s automotive obsession began early. At eight years old, he was already sketching the kind of cars, trucks, and bikes that make people stop mid-conversation and stare. The builds that don’t just roll by, they announce themselves.

For years, he attended SEMA as part of someone else’s crew, watching other builders debut their creations under the bright Las Vegas lights. He’d walk the aisles thinking: One day, that’ll be my build on display.

2025 became that day.

“It’s a whirlwind of emotions,” Dwan admits. “I never thought this day would come. But here we are.”

The Build That Almost Wasn’t

Ghoul Bee’s name comes from an inside joke in the Mopar community, the “Hellcat Ghoul” hoax that fooled enthusiasts a few years back. Instead of chasing myths, Dwan brought the concept to life, blending Scat Pack aggression with NASCAR-inspired styling and drift-ready performance.

But the story behind the build runs deeper than clever naming.

In 2020, Dwan and his father Leonard Harris had plans to attend SEMA together. COVID-19 canceled those plans and shortly after, it took Leonard’s life. The trip never happened. The dream sat incomplete.

“I believe the heavens came together with my father to make this dream come true,” Dwan says quietly. Every modification on Ghoul Bee became a tribute. Every late night in the garage became a conversation with someone who couldn’t answer back but was somehow still there.

This wasn’t just about building a sick Charger. It was about finishing what they’d started together.

Racing the Clock to Vegas

When the SEMA invitation arrived, reality hit fast. The car needed to be perfect, and the deadline was unforgiving.

Dwan shifted into full project-manager mode, coordinating multiple shops, setting strict timelines, and holding everyone including himself to perfectionist standards. Parts needed powder coating. The wrap design required precision execution. Interior work demanded craftsmanship that matched the exterior drama.

“It took longer than expected,” Dwan admits, “but we still kicked the deadline’s tail.”

The team behind Ghoul Bee included Prodious Wraps for the show-stopping exterior design, Griffs Garage for mechanical expertise, Dalas Upholstery for interior refinement, Modern Muscle Xtreme (MMX) for performance upgrades, and Duncan Powder Coating for flawless finishing touches.

When the car finally rolled onto the transport headed for Vegas, Dwan could breathe again. They’d done it.

The Build Breakdown

Ghoul Bee isn’t just aesthetics over function, it’s a legitimate performance machine wrapped in head-turning design.

The 2023 Charger Widebody Scat Pack platform provides the foundation: naturally aspirated 392 HEMI power, aggressive factory stance, and modern Mopar muscle. From there, Dwan and his team took it several levels higher.

Performance upgrades include work from Stainlessworks exhaust, Awe Tuning components, and Mopar Heaven parts that push the car’s capabilities beyond factory specs. Boostane of Texas helps the engine breathe, while TIS Wheels wrapped in Xcomp Tires provide the grip needed for both straight-line attacks and drift-ready cornering.

Exterior presence comes courtesy of Prodious Wraps, whose execution transformed Dwan’s vision into reality. Haas Designs touches, Wind Ristrictor aero, and meticulous Duncan Powder Coating ensure every angle looks intentional.

Interior refinement features Dalas Upholstery craftsmanship and Katzskin Leather that elevate the cabin from performance car to showcase-worthy interior. Top HID and Lightning Trendz lighting add modern flair, while 336 Detailing and Bandito Detailing ensured Ghoul Bee arrived at SEMA camera-ready.

The Team Behind the Build

Major props to the full sponsor roster that made this dream possible: RDMBuilds, Stainlessworks, Awe Tuning, Mopar Heaven, Dalas Upholstery, Katzskin Leather, Modern Muscle Xtreme (MMX), Wind Ristrictor, Haas Designs, Duncan Powder Coating, TIS Wheels, Xcomp Tires, Prodious Wraps, Griffs Garage, Boostane of Texas, 336 Detailing, Top HID, Lightning Trendz, and Bandito Detailing.

Without this collective effort, Ghoul Bee stays a dream instead of becoming reality.

What’s Next

Dwan isn’t done. Not even close.

Future upgrades for Ghoul Bee include a fully billet transmission and reinforced axles capable of handling serious horsepower increases. He’s chasing what he calls his “dream number”, a power figure he’s keeping close to the vest for now.

And beyond Ghoul Bee? He’s already planning the next build, determined to return to SEMA with something even more ambitious.

“I want to top this,” he says with a grin. “Show people that Ghoul Bee was just the beginning.”

More Than Metal and Paint

Walk past Ghoul Bee at SEMA, and you’ll see an aggressive widebody Charger with flawless execution. Stop and talk to Dwan, and you’ll understand it’s so much more than that.

It’s a childhood dream realized decades later. It’s a tribute to a father who believed in that dream but never got to see it completed. It’s proof that tragedy doesn’t have to end the story, sometimes it becomes the fuel that pushes you to finish what was started.

Every modification tells part of the story. Every sponsor represents someone who believed in the vision. Every person who stops to take a photo or ask questions becomes part of the legacy Leonard Harris left behind.

From North Wilkesboro streets to the SEMA Show floor, Ghoul Bee represents what happens when passion meets perseverance, when loss transforms into determination, and when a son refuses to let his father’s memory fade.

The car is loud. The story is louder.

Rest in power, Leonard Harris. Your son made it to SEMA.
