SEMA 2025 Preview: Pure Vision’s Artful Roadrunner

HEIDTS PARTNERS WITH PURE VISION DESIGNS TO DEBUT 1970 ROADRUNNER “HARAKA” AT 2025 SEMA SHOW

SEMA 2025 Preview | Lake Zurich, IL

Most SEMA builds scream for attention. Steve Strope’s latest whispers with confidence.

The 1970 Plymouth Roadrunner “Haraka” arriving at this year’s show represents something rare in the custom car world: a build where every detail serves a cohesive vision. No random parts bin specials. No “because we could” modifications. Just pure, intentional design from bumper to bumper.

Born Plum Crazy Purple from the factory, this Roadrunner has been completely reimagined as a rolling tribute to the world where high fashion meets precision timekeeping. It’s the automotive equivalent of wearing a bespoke suit with a six-figure watch. Understated until you look closer, then absolutely mesmerizing.

The Pure Vision Philosophy

Steve Strope doesn’t just build cars at Pure Vision Designs, he tells stories with them. While other shops chase horsepower numbers or Instagram likes, Strope crafts themed builds that reward closer inspection.

For “Haraka,” the inspiration came from luxury watches and high-end fashion. Not the obvious chrome-and-flash interpretation, but something more sophisticated. Think Swiss watchmaking precision meets Italian tailoring, all wrapped around classic Mopar muscle.

The interior immediately reveals the concept. A custom instrument cluster mimics luxury timepiece design, not gimmicky, but genuinely horological in its execution. Flanking that centerpiece are 18-way Porsche Panamera seats wrapped in custom leather laser-printed with Victorian motifs inspired by designer Robert Graham’s signature dress shirts.

It’s the kind of detail work that separates “built” from “crafted.”

The cabin itself pays refined homage to Mopar interiors of the late ’60s and early ’70s, that golden era when muscle cars started caring about where you sat while going fast. Everything feels intentional, connected, part of a larger narrative.

Engineering Meets Artistry

Beautiful interiors are one thing. Making a 55-year-old platform drive like it was engineered this decade? That’s where Heidts enters the story.

Underneath “Haraka” sits Heidts brand-new PRO-G independent front and rear suspension systems, engineered specifically for Chrysler B-body platforms. This isn’t just bolt-on parts; it’s a complete transformation of how the car moves, stops, and corners.

The PRO-G systems deliver track-ready dynamics without sacrificing street comfort, making “Haraka” equally happy carving canyons or cruising boulevards. It’s the mechanical equivalent of Strope’s design philosophy: performance that doesn’t require sacrifice.

Under the hood, the classic Chrysler 440 gets thoroughly modernized with MoTeC EFI management, a TKX five-speed transmission, and Wilwood brakes. Vintage power meets contemporary precision, exactly the balance both companies built their reputations on.

“We’re thrilled to be partnering with Steve and his team for SEMA 2025,” said Scott Diedrich, Heidts’ Marketing Manager. “Our new PRO-G suspension systems bring both performance and comfort to the table. While many know us from our racing success in the Optima Street Car Series, builds like ‘Haraka’ show how versatile our systems can be even for a stylish weekend driver.”

The Strope Effect

Since competing in the very first Battle of the Builders back in 2014, Steve Strope’s name has become synonymous with craftsmanship that transcends typical hot rod builds. He doesn’t follow trends he creates them, then moves on before everyone else catches up.

This year at SEMA, he’s doubling down with two complete builds: “Haraka” and a new Pontiac GTO project. For most builders, one SEMA-quality car per year is ambitious. For Strope, it’s Tuesday.

See It First

The official unveiling happens Tuesday, November 4, at 10:30 AM in Heidts Booth #23381, located in Central Hall’s HOT ROD Alley at the Las Vegas Convention Center.

Expect crowds. When Pure Vision debuts a build, people show up not just to photograph it for social media, but to study the details, understand the decisions, and appreciate the hundreds of hours that went into making it look effortless.

“Haraka” won’t be the loudest car at SEMA. It won’t have the wildest body kit or the most extreme stance. But for those who appreciate the intersection of classic muscle and contemporary sophistication, it might just be the most compelling.

Some builds demand attention. The best ones simply deserve it.
