Some cars are bought. Others are inherited. But Caitlin Bray’s 2009 Volvo C30, lovingly dubbed “Ovlov”, was something deeper: a final gift from her grandad that would become her canvas for healing, creativity, and spreading joy. This is going to be special for our September 2025 Issue 60
When her grandfather passed in 2017, Caitlin faced a choice that many of us dread. Keep the family car stock as a memorial, or risk everything by making it her own? She chose the harder path and turned grief into the most beautiful tribute imaginable.

From Silver to Statement
The transformation began with courage. Out went the conservative silver paint, replaced by a menacing black wrap that immediately sharpened the C30’s presence. Bronze Bola 17-inch wheels and an MGC wing added aggression, while Stance+ coilovers dropped it into show-ready stance territory.
But Caitlin’s real artistry showed inside the cabin. A custom carbon-fiber steering wheel, bespoke seat covers, and a new gear stick transformed every touchpoint into something uniquely hers. These weren’t just modifications, they were personal statements written in metal and fabric.

More Than Metal and Paint
Here’s where Ovlov’s story gets deeper than most build features. The sleek black wrap isn’t just about aesthetics; it’s inspired by the comic anti-hero Spawn, representing Caitlin’s philosophy about her car’s mission in the world.
“Your wrap is a representation of yourself,” she explains. “I believe in making people smile. The world has too much hatred, so why not put smiles on people’s faces?”
It’s a bold statement from someone who could have easily kept her grandad’s car as a quiet memorial. Instead, she turned it into a rolling ambassador for positivity, resilience, and protecting innocence. Values that honor his memory in the most active way possible.

| At the moment, my car is purely a showpiece, with no performance modifications—every detail is focused on aesthetics and presentation. That said, I’m considering exploring engine swaps in the future, which could add a new layer of excitement to the project while keeping its show-car identity intact. | Inside the car, I’ve focused on subtle but impactful customizations. I’ve added a carbon-fibre steering wheel, upgraded to bespoke seat covers, and swapped out the gear stick for a personalized touch. Each modification enhances both the look and feel of the cabin, giving it a unique, show-ready interior that complements the car’s overall aesthetic. |
| Exterior Modifications | Wheel and Tire Modifications |
| On the outside, the car has undergone a striking transformation. It’s been wrapped from silver to a sleek black, giving it a bold and sophisticated look. To complete the aesthetic, I’ve added an MGC wing, which adds both style and presence, making the car stand out even more at shows. | Completing the car’s exterior look are a set of bronze Bola 17-inch wheels. Their rich color contrasts beautifully with the sleek black wrap, adding a touch of sophistication and enhancing the overall stance. Combined with the MGC wing and other details, they help the car command attention at every show. |
| Suspension Modifications | The car sits on Stance+ coilovers, giving it a perfectly balanced stance that’s both aggressive and show-ready. The adjustable setup allows me to dial in the ride height and stance just right, complementing the bronze Bola wheels, sleek black wrap, and MGC wing for a cohesive, head-turning look. |
The Unexpected Journey
“When I first took it on, I never imagined it would get to where it is now,” Caitlin reflects, and you can hear the wonder in her voice. What started as a personal project has evolved into something that stops traffic and starts conversations.
The reactions never get old, she says. People don’t just admire the car, they connect with its story. Every car show, every parking lot encounter, every double-take from a passerby becomes validation that she made the right choice in transforming rather than preserving.
“Beyond being a car, it’s a reflection of my passion and dedication,” Caitlin notes. But it’s more than that, it’s proof that the best memorials aren’t static monuments. They’re living, evolving celebrations of the people we’ve lost.

The Road Ahead
Currently a show build that’s already turning heads across Wales, Ovlov has bigger ambitions. Caitlin’s eyeing major car shows and possibly an engine swap down the road. But the core mission remains unchanged: spreading smiles wherever the wheels roll.
“The goal of my car is to put smiles on everyone’s face,” she says. “If you have a dream, display it and let everybody see your creativity. That’s what my car stands for, it tells a story.”
Building a Legacy

No transformation this dramatic happens solo. Caitlin credits Essential Wraps for flawless execution on the wrap and tints, with additional support from Vertical Door, Lexani Wheels, Blackpearl Showboards, Black Inks, Wrap Procal Decal, AM Precision Laser, Extremz Custom ATL, and Badass Hydrographic.
But the real team behind Ovlov includes her grandfather’s memory, her own vision, and everyone who stops to smile at what she’s created.
In a world where most modified cars are about going faster or looking flashier, Caitlin’s Volvo C30 stands for something different. It’s proof that the most meaningful builds aren’t just about horsepower or show trophies, they’re about carrying forward the people we love and the values they taught us.
Every mile in Ovlov is a mile driven with purpose. Every smile it generates is a victory over grief. Every show it enters is a celebration of creativity over conformity.
That’s a legacy worth building, one modification at a time.
