We’ve been fortunate to experience Street Car Braggin’ Rights for three years in a row, but this year marks the first time it’s happening right in our own backyard—at Rockingham Dragway. Known as “The Rock,” Rockingham Dragway hosts events almost weekly, but none quite compare to this one. Street Car Braggin’ Rights (SCBR) is setting a new standard for grassroots racing. Their mission isn’t profit-driven; it’s about giving back to the racing community. Organized by promoter and entrepreneur Nate Prater, the event is already making a strong impression in the Carolinas, drawing in car enthusiasts, racers, media, and fans alike. This three-day event features thirteen different racing classes, welcoming everyone from amateur hobbyists to seasoned pros. With over $100,000 in cash payouts and ultimate bragging rights on the line, the competition promises to be fierce.

My second adventure with this event has more meaning to me than my first time. Street Car Braggin Rights coming to our home track here at “The Rock” Rockingham Dragway is a big deal because we did not have to travel out of state to have the same opportunity to cover the same ground. When I covered this event last year I did not know what to expect and what to look for. I had to learn on the fly as to how to cover the races. At first I was in awe at the sights and sounds at Carolina Dragway.I have been to other tracks and covered races, but being at home has me stoked. I get to do what I love doing and I get to do it at a prestigious event that started in 2022. With the event being here in Rockingham shows America that they are moving onward and upward. Tonight was test and tune time, it gives the driver’s and their crew a chance to test and tune their cars for a weekend of racing. This first night also gives the fans a first look and all of the happenings for the next few days. It gives me a chance to unpack my gear and run some test shots to make sure that all my equipment is up to par. Doing my own test and tune. In conclusion, the fans, the crew, the media and the VIP’s hang out on the first night and see what all the fuss is about. Have an enjoyable time, because I know that I will be checking out all that there is to offer for both fans and the media. –Stone Samuels/ Images by Stone Photography
