Hundreds of hotrods, muscle cars, trucks, lowriders and motorcycles will be making their way to Sacramento, CA for the 73rd Autorama. It is going down at the Cal Expo on May 3rd, 4th and 5th. The Sacramento Autorama is one of the largest shows in Northern California. There are going to be so many award worthy custom creations and to make the event even more cool, it will be presented by O’Reilly Auto Parts. The event this year will feature the inaugural World’s Most Beautiful Lowrider Award. Looking for the best custom paint, adjustable suspension, engravings and crazy custom wheel. The prize to the winner will be $5000. You just know that you will see the best of the best in lowriders.

This show brings custom rides from all over the country who will be competing for the Custom D’Elegance award. ARP Fasteners will present this very prestigious award to the best chopped, channeled, or sectioned custom car from 1935- 1948. These cars show what it is to have a classic custom. Not only does the winner get $5000 dollars, they also get their name added to the list of car customizers like Joe Bailon from Sacramento who happens to be the first winner back in 1953.
ARP Fasteners for the second consecutive year will crown the Grand Champion during the Sacramento Autorama. Twelve cars that have competed in the West Coast Challenge Car Show Series in at least three of the four select shows in California, Oregon, and Washington will be judged for the Best of the West award. The Grand Champion will win $12,500, the First Runner-up will win $6,500, and the second Runner-up will receive $3,500, and many more gifts and prizes.
Attendees can meet legendary car designer, artist and TV personality Chip Foose, who will be at the Autorama on Saturday and Sunday. Foose, a previous America’s Most Beautiful Roadster winner and Grand National Roadster Show Hall of Fame inductee, will sign autographs and meet with fans throughout the weekend.

The 2024 show will feature a collection of high-horsepower hot rods from West Coast Pro-Street Outlaws, plus the Traditional Rod & Custom Showcase, highlighting cars and history from the ‘40s, ‘50s and ‘60s, and more than 25 car clubs celebrating in the Butch Gardner Club House.
Folks in attendance of this epic event are encouraged to bring out their very own classic customs and participate in the Autorama Drive-In, for one day or all three days. People who participate will get event admission for two people, a goodie bag, and the best parking at the venue. The Autorama Drive-In is expecting some 400 cars to participate in the event.
“The history of car culture in Sacramento and Northern California is incredibly rich and diverse, and we look forward to celebrating it at the Sacramento Autorama,” said John Buck, owner of Rod Shows. “Each year, the cars and creations push the limits of the imagination while honoring the history of these incredible machines, and this year moves that bar even higher.”

So many talented artists will donate their time to the popular Pinstriper Charity Auction, which features some of the best pinstripers in the country creating art to be auctioned off for charity each day. For a minimal donation, attendees can bring a cell phone, laptop or any other item to get pinstriped for a great cause. All proceeds benefit the UC Davis Children’s Hospital.
Sacramento known as the “Kustom Capital of the World, ” the Sacramento Autorama started in 1950 when Harold “Baggy” Bagdasarian brought together members of a local car club to settle friendly arguments over the outstanding merits of their customized cars. In addition to Custom d’Elegance, the Big B Awards include the Dick Bertolucci Automotive Excellence Award, “Candy Apple” Joe Bailon Memorial Award, Sam Barris Memorial Award and World’s Most Beautiful Custom, H.A. Bagdasarian Memorial Award.

The Sacramento Autorama opens to the public Friday, May 3, from noon-8 p.m., Saturday, May 4, from 10 a.m.-8 p.m. and Sunday, May 5, from 10 a.m.-6 p.m. This family-friendly event will feature plenty of vendors, food and entertainment. Adult admission is $20 each day, $10 for children ages 6 to 12 and children under 5 are admitted free. Discounted tickets are available for $18 for adults and $8 for children at participating O’Reilly Auto Parts stores.
